Natural growth of a continuously thriving community asset

Landers Center was originally conceived as a place for burgeoning high school graduation ceremonies but quickly became a sought-after destination for big-ticket events.  Currently, Landers Center services events with a 10,000-seat arena, professional ice floor, 17,000-square-foot convention hall, 400-seat community theater and food services. For 21 years, officials have received continual requests seeking more convention space, event space, availability and parking – affirming the need for the expansion and instilling confidence in Landers Center’s future success.

A new growth plan to meet demand

The expansion, plus additional parking and green spaces, will connect seamlessly to the existing Landers Center, and will allow DeSoto County to attract and host more events, especially larger events that require additional accommodations. When the day is done, guests can retreat to their thoughtfully designed hotel room or grab a bite at the free-standing restaurant on property – both just steps away from the convention center.

Leading into the future, rooted in community

With design inspired by Mississippi’s vast woodlands and green spaces, the new build will use leading-edge technology to create an inviting space featuring natural elements throughout. The layout will prioritize flexibility to ensure the space is ideal for events of various types and sizes. Being able to make adjustments to help organizers’ visions come to life will play a key role in longevity and success. Conventions, trade shows, cheer competitions, tennis and basketball tournaments will have access to the configurations needed to make their events successful and provide guests with everything they need for a comfortable and hospitable experience. Once complete, Landers Center can truly offer comprehensive event services with options to serve a vast range of needs.

The expansion also stands to produce an estimated $35 million annual economic output as well as an additional 341 jobs in year one, keeping the local benefit to DeSoto County and nearby communities rooted at the forefront of this project.
